Web Maintenance
A secure sockets layer (SSL) is a protocol allowing safe transmission of private information over the Internet. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data: a public key known to everyone, and a private key known only to the message recipient. All modern browsers support SSL, and many websites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information like credit card data.
Anything and any one (including people, software, computers, and devices) who exchange sensitive information on any network, including the Internet and Web, needs to use SSL/TLS. Sensitive information includes things like username and passwords, credit card numbers, or any other data that needs to be kept private.
